Personally, I do not know who is telling the truth. Being always the bigger girl in my class since kindy, weight has always been my personal struggle. For decades, even until today, it is still a struggle to me as I am very much a foodie. I may not be the best cook or even an average one. But food is what I love. Sharing food is my biggest fear as a kid.
My nickname as a kid is 'the fat one'. That is how my aunties and uncles differentiate me from my sister. She is always 'the skinny one'. I guess being called that all the time, I think I eventually accept it as my identity. For those who don't know, carrying weight can also be a psychological issue rather than just physiological. We always blame it on the food we eat. What we put in your mouth is an issue but only part of it. It's the mind that controls our hunger, choice of food and metabolism. The power of the mind is stronger than any of us can imagine.
Ok back to HCG. I started HCG in end of September this year (2014). I read about HCG, YouTube about it which is pretty my whole research about HCG few years back. Because it was injection, I was scared. So I din go ahead with it. Due to series of crazy roller coaster ride of life I had beginning of the year, I decided it is time to lose the fats that has become my identity throughout my life. I always wanted to lose weight but never determined enough. This time I am like it is time. No more procrastination. No more excuses.
So I went to this pharmacy near my house that provides HCG programme service. I got a script from my doctor and see this pharmacist who is experience in the area. The consultation of HCG protocol took up an hour. Little did I know ( cos my knowledge of HCG is probably rusty) that there is so many rules to follow in HCG. I was overwhelmed. Thank God for my impulse determined self. I paid about $400 including vitamins and creams I required for the whole process and went on my jolly way.
HCG. One word. TOUGH. Especially to the mind. For anyone who wants to go on HCG, determination and perseverance will be your best friends for the next 3 to 6 weeks depending how long you want to go for. Plus it is so hard to socialise on HCG. If you are the kind who likes to bond with your friends over food.
Every week I cheated at least once. But I never allow myself to go pass cheating for more than 2 meals in a week. And when I did cheat I try to stick as close to the protocol as I can like indulging in my sashimi and making sure it doesn't exceed 200grams of protein a day.
For 22 days, I was determined. Then my mind is like, ooo you best friend is visiting you for a day. And she has never been to your city before. If you don't know, your best friend and you will always have something in common. My best friend and I was food. So I decided to take planned interruptions for 4 days. That was 3 days at VLCD still as HCG last in your body for 72 hours then had my big pigging out day when my best friend was in town. That day, is almost like another loading day to me. I just ate and ate and ate. The shock came next morning, I was 2 kgs heavier. I was contemplating to do a steak day which means you eat nothing and drink nothing except water till dinner time. At dinner, you eat a huge steak with an apple and your weight should go back to where it was on the last day of HCG dose which mine was day 22. But I wanted to resume my HCG again, so I went back to VLCD instead of steak day. It took me almost 4 days to get rid of that 2 kgs of food spree I had. Plus my mind being exposed to the food I loved for that one day, couldn't handle the VLCD anymore. So I make myself stick onto it for 10 days which was the most I can handle and entered phase 3.
Mind you. I did binge heaps in first 3 days and the weight creeps up on me. On the 4th day, I had to do a steak day. Steak day works miracles. Next day, I was back on my weight on my last dose of HCG.
originally, I was 80.9kgs when I started on HCG which was 1st loading day. I put on a kgs in the 2 loading days of HCG. Lost about 4 kgs in my first week of HCG. Because of the occasional cheating and period, I only lost a total of 8 kgs on HCG with 22 days of initial VLCD days, 4 days of planned interruptions which I put on 2 kgs and 10 days of VLCD.
The best part about HCG is that it is so quick in reducing your weight and makes you feel lighter so quick. It makes it worth it for the suffer. On top of that, with the massive amount of weight reduction, I feel the lightness of not having a 4kgs load with me and I was able to move more easily. The part that you are able to fit into smaller clothes part was exhilarating.
Like any diet, supports are important. Besides the pharmacist guiding me in my HCG journey, HCG bloggers like HCG chick and happy conscious girl, keeps me going. So as HCG recipes on Pinterest.
My advices on HCG:
1. Use it as a tool for your weight loss. To me, it is my kickstart of my weight loss journey.
2. Be sure you read pounds and inches which u can download free copy from HCG chica webpage before signing up for it. So you know what you are up against to make informed decision. Because the minimal time one has to be on HCG is 3 weeks unless you fall pregnant.
3. Never ever think that you can play around with the protocol and do a planned interruptions. It is not worth it. If I had stick to VLCD without planned interruptions, I would have ended HCG with my goal weight of 68kgs even possible of 65kgs.
Hope this is helpful.
